Why This Blog Exists
When an exchange student from Australia came to stay with me, I took her to the places I go without a second thoughtーthe 100-yen shop, the convenience store, Mister Donut. She was thrilled by everyday bit of it. That’s when it hit me: I wanted to share the ordinary, everyday things I barely even noticeーthe stuff no guidebook ever mentions.
About the Name
“Chotto” means “a little” in Japanese. It’s not a big, dramatic wordーpeople use it to soften a request, to say “just a second,” to brush off something small. And that’s exactly the point of this blog. I’m not trying to cover everything Japan has to offer. I’m here for the chottoーthe small, easy-to-miss pieces of everyday life that never make it into a guidebook.
